SWQ Thunder Women notched their first win of the season after comfortably accounting for Peninsula Power Women 5-1 at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

The hosts were rarely troubled in their first home match of the campaign – taking the lead only five minutes into the contest and holding it until the close.

Hopes of a Power comeback were scuttled by a telling injury toll – with Abby Belford and Victoria Brebner succumbing to previous knocks in the first half and Michelle Le Roux and Grace Deroux also forced from the contest in the second stanza.

Thunder’s win was achieved without head coach Keren Thomas, with the squad guided for a second straight week by assistant coach Ken Bosense.
