Home Advantage A Boost For City

Brisbane City are determined to bounce back from their opening round PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland loss when they host Brisbane Strikers tonight.

Club officials expect a bumper crowd of up to 1500 at Corporate Travel Management Stadium for City’s first home match of the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland season despite Sunday’s disappointing 6-0 away defeat at the hands of Sunshine Coast FC.

That result prompted an intensive week of training for the former PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Grand Finalists, with a statement from the club declaring City coach Glen Volker had concentrated on his side’s shape and passing ahead of the meeting with Strikers.

City President Sandra De Francesco said City’s loyal supporters can look forward to a greatly improved showing in tonight’s derby clash, which doubles as City’s season launch.

“We realise the importance of the ‘twelfth man’ - the parochial crowd – could well be a factor in determining Friday night’s result,” she said.

“City are out to make it up to the fans by putting in a strong performance,” De Francesco added.

The club’s season launch includes a curtain raiser between City and Strikers “old boys”, drawing on both clubs previous history as National Soccer League participants.

City Old Boys will be coached by Danny Wright, while Strikers ld Boys will be guided by Alan Hunter and Rod Brown.

The curtain raiser kicks off at 6:15pm at Corporate Travel Management Stadium, with the main game scheduled for an 8pm kick-off.
