Colton Joins the Wolves

The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of 6’8” forward, Maris Colton, for the 2022 NBL1 West season.

Originally from Melbourne, Maris returns to his homeland to join the Pack fresh out of American college basketball. Maris played two seasons for Southwest Baptist Missouri and ended his college career playing for the Metropolitan State University of Denver where he closed his final season scoring in double figures for five-straight games. Wolfpack fans can also look forward to Maris contributing speed, length, and defensive versatility to the Wolves’ games this year.

New NBL1 Men’s Head Coach, David Morrell, shared what he’s looking forward to seeing from Maris,

“This is exciting for us. It’s a great opportunity for us to add Maris to our team. He’s a guy coming out of college with a lot of potential. He’s 6’8” with really good speed, and he’s skilled. Wolves’ fans can expect to so see a versatile defender who can guard multiple position. Offensively, he can shoot, drive, and pass. He’s unselfish and ready to come in and help us in whatever ways he can.

For team culture, it’s tough to add someone out of college late if you’re unsure about their character. For us, Maris is a guy we have no hesitations about. He will fit in and add positively to our team culture right from day 1. So fans, if you see Maris around HBF, please welcome him to the Wolfpack family!”

When asked about his signing with the Wolves Maris said,

“I am very excited to start my professional career with Coach David and the Wolves. I look forward to getting to know the fans and becoming part of the Joondalup community. We have a great collection of talent here and I can’t wait to get to work with my teammates and coaches.”

Maris will be joining CJ Turnage, Jonathan Wade, Jordan Wellsteed, Gabe Chadinha, Julian Pesava, Joel Vaiangina, Josh Bloxham, Jermaine Malie, Tom Parkinson, Luca O’Brien, Ned Oneran, Ben Geel, and Mitchell Newton on the 2022 Wolves Men’s roster.
