Wischer & Davis' Tuesday Night Party

It was a case of 'take 2' for the Merriwa Tavern & Bistro Joondalup City Wolves who, in a unique scenario, contested their postponed SBL games against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns at JBS on a Tuesday night.

Amidst Senior Domestic games on courts 2, 3 & 4 (thanks to our domestic athletes for their support), the Lady Wolves were against an Eastern Suns outfit that comprised some key Perth Lynx personnel.

The Lady Wolves continued their high-pressure defense and free-wheeling offense, pushing a fancied Eastern Suns outfit and forcing them to continually take lower percentage shots, reducing their offensive efficiency and potentcy.

Following some time invested in shooting 'tune up' practice during the week, WSBL star Klara WISCHER was in devastating touch, putting together a masterclass with 31pts, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. With her debut season Wolves MVP odds further shortening, it was a mighty performance and a fine display of her talent for Lynx Head Coach Andy Stewart watching on in the crowd.

Skipper Shani AMOS had another excellent game, with her on court leadership surely now the finest in the league , and Amy KIDNER and Ellyce IRONMONGER had 23 pts and 20+ reb between them in a great tandem effort in the paint against some key opposition bigs.

The Wolves Men's team had to chalk up a win to achieve a 13 straight home game win record, effectively not dropping a home game all year, and they didn't disappoint 1) their own high standards or 2) their loyal and passionate Wolfpack crowd.

Taking some time adjust to the Suns more unique style of game play, the Wolves settled into their rhythm, played the game on their terms and output, and ultimately dominated all key areas, most notably in the paint whereby import Kevin DAVIS was simply exceptional.

In an exciting prospect for Wolves fans, and a frightening reality for opposition sides, 'KD' is in some truly elite form.

He finished with numbers that we had to double-check, such were their dominance - 34pts, 21rebs and 3 blocks.

The supporting, and also impressive, roles were performed by Trian ILIADIS (18pts, 8reb, 9a), Seb SALINAS in #351 (17p) and Greg HIRE (16pts, 7reb, 9a).

Young gun Jordan WELLSTEED had another quality game, his form leading into play-offs is ominous and a continual source of excitement for our future success projections.

In a further positive youth move, it was great to see minutes from Juna WILLIAMS. He is a player of the future, with raw talent in massive quantity. Well done to the quiet Kiwi with the full suite of moves!
