NEWS: Drysdale looking to keep its top four hopes alive in Round 17 of Women’s Div 1

WITH just two rounds to go in the Geelong Region Women’s Division 1 competition, Drysdale will look to keep its top four hopes alive when it visits bottom of the league Surf Coast FC at Banyul Warri Reserve on Saturday.

If Drysdale can overcome the Coasters and Bell Park was to lose in its game, it would see the Bellarine side move into 4th position on the table as it is just three points behind Bell Park and has a superior goal difference.

Up at Bell Post Hill, Bell Park will try to ‘shoo’ Drysdale away from its coveted spot in the top four when they visit 2nd last placed outfit Kardinia College.

Kardinia doesn’t have too much to play for as they are six points behind Drysdale and are out of the running for a top four spot.

Bell Park, on the other hand, will be hoping to maintain its three-point advantage over Drysdale going into the final round of the season next week.

In the final game to complete Round 17, League champions Geelong Rangers will host 3rd placed Barwon at Myers Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

Neither teams have much at stake, in terms of fighting for a finals’ spot, as they are both assured of finishing the regular season in the top four.

Barwon is five points ahead of 4th placed Bell Park and are just three points behind 2nd placed Deakin but have a game in hand over the Ducks.
