Deakin took an early lead in the crucial Round 15 clash with a goal from Meaghan Ryan and for the first time since the first game of the season Rangers went into the break trailing.

Rangers equalised after coming out strong in the second half with a cross from Britt Elsen to Lara Heric, whose shot ended up in the back of the net as Deakin’s Ashley Evans unfortunately turned it into her own net.

The winner came around the 75th minute after Zoe Tizard was put through and beat the keeper which proved to be the deciding goal of the match. Rangers held on right to the end to take the three points home and extend their lead.

Meanwhile, over at Kardinia College in Bell Post Hill, a rejuvenated Kardinia came away from its clash with Barwon with a valuable three points after winning 4-2.

Courtney Farrell scored a brace while Stephanie Cameron and Andjela Matijas scored a goal each to help Kardinia secure only its third win of the season.

Kardinia is now five points clear of bottom side Surf Coast with 10 points, while Barwon remains in 3rd spot on the league standings with 23 points.

Bell Park, Surf Coast and Drysdale did not play this week as they all had a BYE.
