NEWS: Local region clubs encouraged to register for nationwide knockout FFA Cup

GEELONG region clubs competing in the local leagues are being encouraged to sign up for this year’s edition of the nationwide knockout FFA Cup, which will see all nine local State League outfits take part in, as well as the region’s lone NPL outfit.

In 2018, FFV has four (4) allocated slots in the FFA Cup Round of 32; i.e. the Victorian winners of Round 7 will progress to the national Round of 32 together with other state representatives, Hyundai A-League Clubs (Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City) and the NPL 2017 National Champions – Heidelberg United.

Any Regional Affiliate or Metropolitan League Clubs wishing to enter the

FFA Cup must complete a FFA Cup Club Registration Form and submit the form to FFV by no later than 9:00am on Thursday 1st of February 2018.

Please note, Regional Affiliate and Metropolitan qualifying slots are subject to availability. There are currently 44 qualifying slots available which will be allocated in the following order of preference:

1. New MSL (Metropolitan State League) team entries for the 2018 season – which will this year include debutante club Barwon SC; then

2.Earliest submission time/date of the FFA Cup Club registration form to FFV

It is mandatory for all Clubs competing in the National Premier Leagues Victoria (NPL and NPL2) and Men’s State Leagues (MSL1 – MSL5) competitions to participate in the FFA Cup. Entry is limited to one team per Club.

The Geelong clubs taking part in this year’s FFA Cup will include NPL2 side North Geelong Warriors, along with State League outfits Geelong, Corio, Geelong Rangers, Bell Park, Golden Plains, Surf Coast, Deakin Ducks, Barwon and Lara United

The draw for the 1st and 2nd Qualifying rounds will be held on Friday 2nd February. All draws will have live updates via FFV’s social media channels (Facebook.com/footballvic and Twitter@footballvic).
