NEWS: High profile presenters announced for FFV State Coaching Conference

THE presenters for the theory sessions at next month’s FFV State Federation Coaching Conference have been locked in with some of the sport’s highest profile coaches and football directors appearing at the two day event at the Footscray campus of Victoria University.

To be held on the weekend prior to Christmas, this year's conference has been split into two days to allow for both theory and practical sessions. The presenters for the theory sessions include:

DAVID SMITH - State Technical Director: David will go over a brief overview of the Talented Player Pathway structure for the 2017 season including talent identification and also a look at coach education moving forward.

MICHAEL PETRILLO - Melbourne City FC Director of Football: Michael's presentation will be focused on Melbourne City's youth development structures moving forward.

GARETH NAVEN - Melbourne Victory NYL/NPL Head Coach: Gareth's presentation will be focused on Melbourne Victory's youth development structures moving forward. This will give an opportunity to see youth development structures from two different aspects and how players can transition into a senior setup.

LES BEE - FFA Coach Development Manager: Les' presentation will based on Player Centred Coaching he will be focusing on how you can best meet the needs of your players on social, psychological and physical levels whilst also being able to get across what you're trying to coach.

RON SMITH - Former AIS and A-League Coach and now Technical Analyst for FFA: Ron's presentation will go through his experiences throughout his career both as a player and a coach and how he has applied aspects from his PhD into his technical analysis.

Two practical sessions will be also presented on the Sunday, these will both be based on the information identified at this year’s National Technical Network.

A Skill Acquisition and Game Training session will be undertaken based on the new methodology of providing the best learning environment and opportunities to players, all coaches will have an opportunity to watch the session being presented as players will be organized.

Commencing at 9:00am on Saturday 17th December and concluding just after midday the following day, the State Coaching Conference is an event designed as one of the means for advanced coaches to meet the required four (4) year revalidation requirements in order to keep their accreditation valid and current. Attendance at both days is required to receive the 50 coaching accreditation points.

The total cost of the weekend is $130. If you require lunch, the cost will be a further $20 which you will be required to pre-order. Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided to all Conference participants.
