NOTICE: Proposed composition of 2016 GRFC Leagues

WITH the 2015 Geelong Region Football Committee (GRFC) season having officially concluded with the highly successful Grand Final weekend recently at Geelong Soccer Club’s Stead Park complex, Football Federation Victoria (FFV) would like to provide all GRFC clubs with a prospective list of leagues that will be offered in 2016:

- MEN’S Masters:

A new men's over-35s league that will be offered to clubs in which all players must be at least 35 years old as at 1 January 2016.

- BOYS' Under 11 Kangaroos:

As a result of the growing pressures on the Northern and Southern Hubs, an Under 11 MiniRoos league for the players of a higher standard will be offered to clubs to be fixtured under the standard home-away format as opposed to being hub-based. Please note that as this will be a MiniRoos league, the Rules of Competition will not apply and teams will not play for points.

- BOYS' Under 12, 13, 15 and 17:

Clubs will be given the opportunity to enter teams in either an 'A' or 'B' Divisions, or in the case of Under 12s, 'Kangaroos' or 'Joeys'. If we do not receive at least 6 teams for each division in an age group, the divisions will be amalgamated to create one league (for example, if FFV receives 5 teams in 13A and 8 teams in 13B, the divisions will merge to create a 13-team Boys' Under 13).

- WOMEN’S Div 1 and 2:

There will be two Senior Women's leagues pending feasibility with a second division to be created as a conduit between Girls' Under 14 and Women's Div 1 for younger players turning at least 15 years old in 2016, as well as catering for newly formed women's teams and for reserves teams of Div 1 clubs.

- GIRLS' Under 11:

Similar to Boys' Under 11 Kangaroos, this age group will be fixtured in a home-away format to help alleviate the pressure on the Northern and Southern Hubs. As this will be a MiniRoos league, the Rules of Competition will not apply and teams will not play for points.

- GIRLS' Under 14:

This league will be offered to clubs for junior girls born in 2002, 2003 or 2004 (i.e. turn up to 14 years old in 2016) as discussed in the GRFC Meeting on Monday 10 August.

NOTE: SPECIAL DISPENSATIONS

We acknowledge the Girls' Under 13 league presented some challenges in 2015. Inevitably, the variance in ages of younger female participants warranted a more lenient approach in the assessment of age dispensations. The intention was always to establish a viable competition, however the feedback received suggested this approach increased inequality across teams. We firmly believe dispensations are necessary in fostering participation growth but not to the detriment of equality across teams. To help strike a balance ahead of the 2016 season please note that all dispensations in 2016 must comply with the Rules of Competition.

Please note the list in the attached PDF file, which sets out a summary of all competitions to be offered to clubs in 2016 (dependent on team numbers).

We invite clubs to provide feedback in relation to the leagues being proposed for season 2016 and ask that if you have any feedback, you please write to competitions@ffv.org.au or call Michael Ireland on 9474 1810.
