Welcome Ali Jones - BMG Head Referee Coach
Basketball Mount Gambier is delighted to welcome Ali Jones as Head Referee Coach. Ali is a tremendously experienced referee, with terrific technical nous and the skillset to nurture referees of all ages and abilities. Ali has also worked in the Mount Gambier Basketball system for several years and knows the basketball landscape well.
Ali will play a pivotal role in managing and developing officials for BMG competitions, SA Junior Championships, and junior tournaments, as well as selecting and managing a group of referee mentors, who will in turn assist in the development and support of all BMG referees.
This is a point of emphasis for BMG to provide sustainable pathways for referees, and Ali’s appointment is an important and positive first step. In conjunction with court supervisors for ALL competitions, BMG will provide an enjoyable, supportive, and progressive environment for all referees.

- Metro district division 1 junior and senior
- BMG since 2008
- NBL1 (formerly SEABL) men’s and women’s
- U14, U16, U18 National Championships
- Albury Country Cup U16 & U18 (Gold medal games)
- World Police and Fire Games
- Referee camp at Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence
- SRDP & NRDP Panel member
- AIC 2021 attendee as referee coach
