A Reserve and Under 18 Men’s MVP’s

The individual success for the Bulldogs in the 2019/20 Summer season has continued with the announcement of the U18 Men and A reserve MVP’s.

Before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19 the U18 men’s season was shaping up for battle between the Bulldogs and the Panthers who were sitting at the top of the ladder, both Ethan Norman and Jake Walker had great seasons for their top placed Panthers side. Jake going off for a season high 34 points during the seas against the second placed Bulldogs and Ethan had a night out against the Cougars with a 32 point performance. The MVP was however awarded the Oscar Adams of the Bulldogs, Oscar had a wonderful season averaging just under 18 points per game and leading his side to a second placed finish.

Oscar definitely did not expect the award, ‘I am surprised but chuffed, I just love playing with and against my mates.’

Oscar is known for his athleticism and his tireless enthusiasm on the court, his biggest scoring game came against the Roos where he piled on 27 points, ‘I would like to thanks Robbie Young and Matt Berkefeld for coaching us over the years and my parents for the support.’

The A Reserve women’s competition was tightly contested with multiple teams that could have challenged for the title had the season not been cancelled, with the Panthers sitting on top.

It was a young star Siobhan Adams, sister to Oscar, who impressed the most to capture the A Reserve women’s MVP. Siobhan finished the season averaging just under 13 points per game. Against the Bulldogs Red Siobhan exploded for 30 points which amazingly included no free throws or three-point shots, simply 15 made field goals.

Siobhan is a very unselfish player and was surprised to learn she had won, ‘I’d like to thank my teammates, it has been a fun season.’

With no Basketball currently being played Siobhan has used the extra time to continue to get some work in but also catch up on some sleep, ‘I have been sleeping a lot and doing a work out or run each day, I am looking forward to getting back on court with my friends.’

There were some big individual performances in the A Reserve Men’s competition, Toby de Wit led the league in scoring with 21 points for the Cougars, Experienced Panther Jak Ryan only played half the season however had a big night against the second placed Roos with 28 points back in March. Mason Hein of the Bulldogs was awarded the MVP, a tough rugged player that does not mind the physical side of the game. ‘I feel like we were starting to find our form towards the end of the season and will be a force to be reckoned with next season.’

Mason had a very consistent season averaging just under 18 points per game, his season high of 28 points came against the Roos, ‘I’d like to thank the association and referees for doing a great job.’

Mason who really enjoys the game of Basketball is still finding ways to enjoy the game and stay in shape. ‘We have a half court at work that I’m grinding on to stay in shape and work on my game.’
