MG Plasterers SECBL Round 11

MG Plasterers SECBL Round 11

The Bulldogs Red v Cats game was a high paced game with both teams trying to establish a running game early. Josh Murphy used his size to control the paint for the Cats on his way to a team high 25 points, it was however Duncan Reid (29 points) and Shaun Lock (31 points) who could not be contained by the Cats. The Bulldogs catching fire from the three-point line in the second term while the Cats missed some opportunities opened up a lead for the Bulldogs and they never looked back running away with a 101 to 77 victory.

The Roos started with an 11 – 2 run in their clash with the Panthers, and held a six point lead at the first quarter break. The inside outside combo of Mony Makuer and Michael Kout was giving the Roos belief of an upset. Brad Rathjen of the Panthers took control of the game in the second half finding ways to score himself and get teammates involved, he would finish with 25 points of his own with four of his teammates amazingly finishing on 11 points each. The Panthers would run away with a 81 to 63 win.

It was second against third in the Bulldogs Blue v Cougars match, the Cougars had a strong start and held on to a slim lead at the half. Bulldogs player Lachie Hunter in his last game as a 20 year old found another gear along with Simon Berkefeld in the second half to take the lead early in the third period and they never looked back. The Cougars showed a lot of fight, Sam Stafford with 23 points and Braidyn Ousey 22 points kept their side with in arms reach but the Bulldogs had all the answers down the stretch winning the game 86 to 75.

In the women’s competition the Cougars travelled to Millicent to face the Cats who were without Emily and Georgia Winter. The Cougars, led by 21 points from Mikaela Horrigan and 18 from Keryl Ousey, were too much for the Cats to handle and the Cougars closed the gap on top spot.

It was a low scoring affair between the Panthers and the Bulldogs/Roos with the Panthers coming out on top 59 – 39. Panthers spread of scorers with four players reaching double figures, Joey Jones leading the way with 17 for the Panthers, Claire Hunter had 15 for the Bulldogs/Roos.
