A Reserve Men

Roos 53 Def Panthers 38

The Panthers Men’s A reserve’s dream final run came to a halt at the hand of the Roos, the Panther had over come the odds after finishing fourth. Behind the play of Bradley Jachmann the Panthers were able to beat the Bulldogs and Cougars in knockout games to set up a final game against the top placed Roos.

The Roos who finished the regular season on top, had to over come the Cougars by two point to gain entry to the Grand final where they had a week off to evaluate their next opponent.

Both teams exchanged baskets to open the game but it was all Roos from there stretching out to a 16 – 4 lead by quarter time, a lead that would prove too great for the Panthers to overcome.

Bradley Jachmann battled hard for the Panthers as he had all season and finished with 15 points, father son combo of Mark and Caleb Bachmann combined for 30 points and proved too much for the Panthers to be able to contain.

Game MVP was awarded to Roos Mark Bachmann showing his younger family members he has still got it! Brodie Jolley who led his team to a top place finish was awarded with the League MVP.

A Reserve Women

Cougars 38 def Panthers 36

The undefeated Panthers would have been considered favourites for this contest however with team leading scorer Emily Hunter not available gave the Cougars an edge. At times during the game the Cougars threatened to control and run away with the game however the Panthers showed plenty of courage to get themselves back into the contest each time.

The conclusion of the game was exciting right to the finish, a Cody Manning three pointer bringing the Panthers back to within three with 16 seconds left had a nervous Cougars team trying to protect the ball. The Cougars coming away winners by two pints.

Young gun Sarah Ritter lead the Cougars with 18 points, Cody Manning had three three pointers for the Panthers on the way to a team high 13.

Game MVP was awarded to Cougars player Ebony Mcdiarmid and Panthers player Emily Hunter was named as league MVP.
