30 June 2021
As per announcements made by SA Health today, community sport is still able to be played as per restrictions previously advised.
However further to this, we also bring to your attention the requirement for medical staff (such as doctors, physios, sports trainers etc) to wear a face mask while giving treatment and also the recommendation that people who masks when out in public.
Restrictions Update
The following restrictions impacting sporting clubs/licenced venues are in place:
- Density requirement of 1 person per 2sqm (including in licenced venue, changerooms and all other areas)
- Seated consumption (both food and drink) is required inside at licenced venues
- No communal food such as buffets
- No dancing in relevant licenced venues
- No singing in indoor spaces (club songs MUST be sung outside on the oval or another appropriate outdoor space)
- Face masks to be worn by medical staff (doctors, physios, sports trainers etc) during treatment
- Recommendation that people wear masks while in public
As a reminder, Clubs can continue to operate their match days hosting up to 1,000 spectators under their COVIDSafe Plan (or greater if they have an approved COVID Management Plan), however noting that density requirements and indoor seated consumption must be observed.
The continued use and promotion of the QR Code system is fundamental to keeping our communities safe and supporting SA Health with contract tracing efforts. All clubs and licenced venues must have this in place for all training, match days and when their licenced venue is in operation.
SA Health and SAPOL have also released further clarification regarding private functions/gatherings at licenced venues as follows:
- The maximum number of people permitted is defined by the density provision of 1 person per 2 square metres.
- Communal food and beverage areas are not permitted. Food consumed indoors must be done so while seated.
- Dancing is not permitted.
- Singing is not permitted indoors.
For example: A wedding reception at a licensed premises vs a wedding reception at a community hall (non-licensed premises).
A wedding reception at a licensed premises: the size of the venue will determine the maximum capacity allowed, people present must not exceed 1 person per 2 square metres, but it is not capped at 150 people.
A wedding reception at a community hall (non-licensed premises), people present must not exceed 1 person per 2 square metres, but the maximum capacity is capped at 150 people.
