THE UNOFFICIAL NORWOOD CUP REPORT
The Norwood Cup is fast becoming EP Footballs equivalent of Oaks Day during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
The glitterati were out in force, mums and dads, grandmas and grandpas.
Phil Cook was there, occupying a seat in the grandstand. He bought his own cushions, one for himself and one for Dee. Forget the feathers and down these were fully stuffed with original orange versions of Coombs and Randall. (For the uninitiated these 1967 $20 notes are valued at about $7k a pop in uncirculated condition) Dees place was empty, she was still in the line-up at the Latte Van. Seems the operator hadn’t yet returned from milking the almonds.
Kevin and Jenny Cook were there too, complete with their own cushions stuffed with 20 pound notes.
Sisters Maddi Ramsey and Hannah from Havanna Schubert were in a prime position on the fence, resplendent in their matching pet cat fur coats. The kittens were apparently all litter sisters. Damon Dope Ramsey was there sporting an unusually ruddy complexion, the sort that comes from constipation - too many pet cat dim sims probably.
Further along were Jeff & Emma Bigg. Jeff looked inconsolable, he and Jarad Tomney were both still smarting from being overlooked by Collingwood at the recent Mid Season draft.
And then there was the aristocratic couple; Sir Richard Hill and Lady Sal. They were there to watch Prince Reuben destroy us in game 2.
Madam Shannon Cartier-Watch was conspicuous by her absence, preferring to attend the Tasman Drink Sprint no doubt - out to create a unique family record - only brother sister combo to win it.
Congratulations to Jacob Ryan, no surprise that he was named best for Eastern Eyre with a standout performance in the first game against Lincoln Districts and another great effort in game 2 against a very strong Great Flinders outfit.
He along with Coby Dolling and Ashton Hartwig were rewarded with spots in the EP Squad - well done lads.
Whilst we may have been touched up on the scoreboard, the lads should hold their heads high, we had a very young team, with a dozen of them still eligible to play again next year.
Bring on 2022
Talking great efforts; how about Callam “Ratta” #294 (son of Moose) Hebbermann from Poochera (Kaldoonera). After the Alice to Finke leg of the desert race he sits outright 14th of 584 on the bikes.
Jake Scholz (Pygery) and Derek Williams (Wudinna) are competing too, they are currently 354th & 267th respectively.
