The 2010 KingPrint Lexton Plains FL&NA Final series comes to a conclusion this Saturday, when the last ever Grand Final of this fantastic league will be conducted at Eureka Stadium, North Ballarat. As many are aware, the Lexton Plains FL&NA is set to be disbanded at the conclusion of the 2010 season – which if all runs to schedule will be at approximately 5.00pm this Saturday evening.
The Lexton Plains FL was created in 1999, when the then Lexton FL and the Western Plains FL’s merged. The Lexton FL was created in 1945 and existed until 1998. The Western Plains FL was created in 1920 (it’s precursor was the Lismore District FA) and it also existed until the completion of the 1998 season when the 2 leagues merged.
The Lexton Plains is a district league located in central Victoria, and it runs from Rokewood Corindhap in the south to Navarre and Natte Bealiba in the north, running adjacent to world renowned Pyrenees Ranges. The Lexton Plains FL conducts Senior, Reserve, Under 17, Under 14 & Under 12 competitions, with the Lexton Plains FL Netball Association conducting Senior, Reserve, C Grade, Under 17, Under 15 & Under 13 Netball competitions.
The Clubs currently affiliated with the Lexton Plains FL and the Lexton Plains Netball Association are Skipton, Lexton, Rokewood Corindhap, Carngham Linton, Navarre, Natte Bealiba, Illabrook & Ararat Eagles.
Following the conclusion of the recent Review of the Lexton Plains FL&NA by the VCFL, the VCFL have determined that:
- the Natte Bealiba Football Netball Club and the Navarre Football Netball Club will seek a transfer from the Lexton Plains Football Netball League to the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League for the 2011 season
- Based on the indication of the club during the Review - that the Ararat Eagles
Football Netball Club will seek a transfer from the Lexton Plains Football Netball
League to the Mininera District Football League for the 2011 season
- Based on the above points it is the view of the Review Panel that the Lexton
Plains FNL would be untenable and therefore the Lexton Football Netball Club,
the Illabarook Football Netball Club, the Carngham Linton Football Netball Club,
the Skipton Football Netball Club and the Rokewood Corindhap Football Netball
Club will seek transfers from the Lexton Plains Football Netball League to the
Central Highlands Football League for the 2011 season during the August –
October transfer window as per VCFL Rules.
- That the Lexton Plains Football Netball League be disbanded as per its
constitution at the 2010 Annual General Meeting.
As a result, the 2010 Lexton Plains FL&NA Grand Final next Saturday 4th September promises to be a somewhat emotional occasion, when the biggest day in the calendar year of the league will also be the last in the history of the Lexton Plains FL&NA.
And it promises to be a fantastic – but somewhat sad – occasion !
