2009 Exhibition Game: SADB v 11SQN

SA Defence Basketball was challenged by 11 Squadron to a Trophy Game at RAAF Edinburgh on sunday evening 14 Jun 09.

The SA Defence Basketball team last having played at the SA Police & Emergency Services Games in May, were keen to shake off the cobwebs before the teams splits into its Army and Air Force rivalry for the upcoming Inter-Service Basketball Tournament.
 
The lineups for both teams were transformed by the availability of personnel. Andy Mal and Tim Nuss returned to the lineup and Michael Peachey made his debut for SADB. The 11 Squadron team matched the perimeter shooting, and executed good offence throughout. Adam Ingall led the scoring for 11SQN with 13, and Scott Columbus 8, Hong Le 7.
 
The SADB team didn't execute as well as hoped, but secured the battle of the boards, to retain control of tempo. In the end points in the paint won the game, but not before losing the 3rd quarter to an 11 Squadron team fighting back into the game.
 
SADB claimed the trophy on a 56-39 win. Michael Peachey led scoring for SADB triggered by a red-hot 1st quarter on his way to 13, followed by Glen Solomon 12 and Tim Muehlberg 9.

The SA Inter-Service Basketball tournament will be held at RAAF Edinburgh over period 16-17 Jul 09. Army, Navy, Air Force & APS will compete.
