Cougars Round 4 Blitzkreig
The University Cougars posted their first win of the season and first since Round 4 2014 !
From the opening bounce, quick hands and a quick goal pumped up the Cougars and it lasted throughout the game. Led from the front by George Read the centres were quite dominant in the centre clearances with Westbury getting plenty of ball. Callum, Big Dave and Champs were showing some impressive aerial skills and keeping the Goal Ump busy waving flags. Jamie Angus and Callum Auldy showed some class whilst the defence stood firm with Ash Blackman and Scott Van den Bach running of their Blues opponents and pumping the ball back downtown. The Otago boys gave some more firepower whilst the new blood for the Cougars had some impressive kicks, marks and handballs and contributed well to a well deserved and long awaited victory. The Eastern Blues tried staying in the game with top efforts from Devon Pullybank but unfortunately for them they were outgunned today.
It was a good thing some veterans like Mildenhall, Decuevas, Langridge, Day and Chilton were on hand to belt out the team song. Coach Chris Mintern was impressed not only with the singing but with the Cougars game as well.
