Director of the Board of Squash Australia, Carol Kawaljenko visited the new squash courts at the Telecom Sports Arena and gave them her stamp of approval.
She was accompanied by her husband Vlad and Heimata Karika who is the tournament director for squash for the Pacific Mini Games 2009.
Carol was impressed with the courts. She said that there was a problem with ventilation at the last games in Samoa which has been remedied here.
She has been on Rarotonga for a few days already and has seen our players in action.
They have been taking advantage of the new facilities before their games begin next Tuesday.
Carol is familiar with the calibre of many of the players who will be attending the games from across the Pacific as they also attend the Arafura Games which are held in the same year as the Pacific Games in Carol’s home town Darwin in Australia.
