Nineteen-year-old Raobu Tarawa comes from Tarawa, the capital of Kiribati. He attends St Louis High School in Tarawa where the Kiribati Athletics Association hold some of their events. Raobu is studying Art, English, Maths, Geography, History and IT. Although he hopes to be able to get a job when he leaves school, his dream is to be able to continue with sports and to improve his skills in his favourite codes – shot put, discus and javelin. He didn’t do as well as he hoped in the javelin competition today. His best throw was 49.38m which was quite a bit below his personal best, but hopefully he will have been inspired by the record-breaking throw of Lesley Copeland of Fiji who threw 74.98m. Best of luck for your other events and your future in sports, Raobu.
