Cougars team play in Mildura .First Time in 15 years!

2009 IBA TRISTATE JUNIOR BASKETBALL CARNIVAL MILDURA 6TH – 8TH OF JUNE

U14 div 4 boys took on the challenge to compete against div 2 teams in the IBA Tri-State Carnival in Mildura, apparently the first Cougars team to play in Mildura in 15 years!

First games (Saturday 6th June) were very challenging, the team played against Sturt Sabres then Broken Hill unfortunately both resulting in losses.

Saturday night the sponsors of the carnival The Edge Hotel held an under age disco for all the teams attending the carnival and their siblings, the adults had to show the kids how to party on the dance floor!

Sunday we had a narrow lose against the Irymple Tigers. A typical courageous Cougars style it was the last game that brought the stadium to a stand still against Irymple Whitehouse.

With 3 minutes to go. The Cougars were down by 12!

The team had to dig deep….. By the 1 minute mark the mighty Cougars had pegged back the margin, the scores now level!

With 30 seconds to go the Cougars were up by 2!

8 seconds to spare and the Cougars coach called a time-out!...(surprise surprise!!)

Game back in play Irymple fouled the Cougars!

Cougars to the line, two free throws! No pressure here! Cougars up by two!

1st shot misses! ……..2nd shot in the basket! Cougars up by 3!

Irymple with possession takes the shot and misses!

Cougars win by 3! GO THE GOUGARS!!!!!

A fantastic weekend had by all with the team coming 4th in their division. A great job guys!

The players all got to know one another outside of basketball and are gelling more in their games with parents having a good mingle session to. A highly recommended fun family basketball trip.

A big thankyou to all the players for their effort, commitment and positive attitude who participated in the carnival and to their parents for supporting the team and their children.

Till next year where we can fly the Cougars flag high again!
