Chris Cameron Signed as Boys DoC and 2016 Senior Men

Eltham Basketball is pleased to have made two significant signings in one go, as it welcomes Chris Cameron to the ranks. For the 2015/16 calendar year, Cameron joins the Wildcats at the Junior Boys Director of Coaching; leading a program that has performed as one of the leaders in the VJBL ranks over recent years. Further to this appointment is Chris’s signing for the Senior Men’s team under the leadership of Trevor Lee for 2016.

Cameron is not new to the surrounds of the Wildcat stadiums, as he is well entrenched in the atmosphere of the club and the local community through his coaching of his daughter’s Eltham Wildcat domestic team and as a teacher at local school and Wildcat venue, Montmorency South Primary School.

Having played for Waverley in 2015, after a number of years with Nunawading in the SEABL, Eltham seemed a logical choice for the local resident. “I have been able to witness Trevor and the Eltham boys build their team over the last two years. Players are really positive about Trevor as a coach and I have witnessed Eltham’s operations for myself first hand, so I am pleased to further my involvement in the Eltham club” Cameron said in regard to his signing for the Senior Men’s team. Further to those comments, “The junior program now has a consistent flow of talented players that are developing through domestic, moving into championship and then transitioning into the Big V program. The junior program has seen some great success in recent years, most recently with the U18 boys winning the National Classic. I am really looking forward to working with the coaching team and helping them work with the young Wildcat players. Overall, I am just really impressed with the plans that have been in place and the follow through that is occurring.”

Eltham CEO Greg Jeffers was pleased with the appointment “Chris is already a leader in our local community and as a result he will fit seamlessly into the operations of the Championship Boys program and with Trevor and his 2016 team. We look forward to making further senior team announcements in the coming weeks.”
