It was tough choosing a single player from SA that stood out from the rest.

On a team whose success was predicated on significant contributions from players both on the bench and the starting 5, it was tough choosing a single player that stood out from the rest.

Elsworthy gets the slight edge – largely due to her ability to act as the rudder for SA, a team that made its way to the final despite the loss of star guard / go-to scorer Morgan Yaeger in the early rounds.

Running point for SA, Elsworthy was a a floor general in every sense of the word, displaying the ability to control the tempo of the game and set-up her teammates – all the while taking care of the ball (1.86 TOPG) and shooting at a high clip from the floor (50 FG%).

Elsworthy also proved herself to be an above-average rebounder for a guard – grabbing 7 offensive rebounds in a game against WA.

Effort, smarts and leadership. Three qualities you’d want of a player to lead your team.
