JEAN BAIN

Jean joined North Adelaide in 1960, and was a top player for the Senior Women’s team for some ten years, five of which were as Vice-Captain.

She was a member of six North Adelaide District Women’s Winter Premierships and six Summer Premierships in what was a truly Golden era for our Club in Women’s basketball.

Jean represented South Australia continuously from 1961 to 1970, winning four Australian Championships along the way. She also represented Australia for many years, including at the 1963 tour of South East Asia, the 1967 World Championships in Prague and as Vice-Captain at the 1971 World Championships in Brazil, where she had a personal game high 15 points against Argentina.

Jean then went on to coach North junior teams for many years, passing on her knowledge and experiences to the next generation.

For her efforts both on and off the court, Jean was honoured with Life Membership in 1972.
