Athletics Solomon Islands for the first time have a representative successfully qualify to become a team Manager after completing the Team Managers Seminar last week in Cairns. Martin Rara who hails from Maluu in North Malaita wasted no time to bag home a certificate in Team Management from a weeklong Seeminar on the Gold Coast. The Seminar was organised by the IAAF education system through the Regional Development Centre on the Gold Coast.
Rara was among 22 member countries that took part in the course and was fortunate to be the first ever Managers to finish the course. The course equips coaches and managers on how to Manage a team attending major regional and International Competitions. Solomon Islands Athletics Federation in the past send officials to the games but without qualification. Now its time the federation has one of its very own members.
Rara continue to thank the Oceania Athletics Association and the IAAF Regional Centre on the Gold Coast for providing the oppourtunity for officials to attend such courses as it really helps the Island Federations to go forward in their management roles in their respective Federations.
The course was very handy though it was the first of its kind. A special thanks to our lecturer Mr Billy Bailey for the successfully mentoring of the ship with coaches to the shore of athletics Team Management.
