ROUND TWENTY: Forestville Eagles v Southern Tigers

Coming off a blowout loss to the Norwood Flames, the Southern Tigers are still fighting for their opportunity to see the finals in the coming weeks. Matched up against one of the toughest sides in the competition this week in Forestville, Tracy York and her side are going to need to dig deep. Forestville fell to the Pioneers in a shattering two-point game in Round 19 after Melissa Russel gave the Pioneers the lead with under 10 seconds remaining. Ambah Kowcun was able to get a shot off before the buzzer but was unsuccessful from deep.
The Pioneers exploited the Eagles in the paint (26-16) and this will be a key to victory for the Tigers this weekend. We know that in the past, the Tigers can bully their way inside and make their opponent pay under and around the rim and this just might happen this weekend. Coming off the large loss this past weekend, the Tigers will be out to show why they are one to watch if they reach the postseason.

With the Eagles motivated after a 13-point loss to the Pioneers last round, and the Tigers filled with momentum after their convincing win against Norwood, this looks to be the game of the round. With Turnage, Gilligan and Omamogho all putting in solid shifts for Southern last game, it seems the team is in good form and has found an offence which incorporates multiple players. This should put the Eagles on notice as a widespread offensive contribution by the Pioneers is what handed them the loss last week. Their defence will need to be on its toes and ready to rotate and close out with perfect timing if they want to get a good win. Deng and Mays will also need to be the definition of efficiency, and will want support from Teys and Harris to help them get the win. It should be a fantastic game, with both teams boasting weapons on each end of the court. Count on the Eagles bouncing back though, it’s something they have done well throughout the season.
