ROUND NINETEEN: Sturt Sabres v Woodville Warriors

WOMEN by Kieren Vartuli

Fresh off a difficult road victory over the Mount Gambier Pioneers, Sturt face a hungry Warrior outfit. After handing the Lions their first win of the season, the Warriors will be looking to upset a title contender and look to finish their season on a positive note. Round 18 saw the Warriors’ inability to defend from deep with Centrals knocking down over half of their attempts. On the opposite end of the floor, the Sturt Sabres overcame one of the Premier League’s challenges in winning at the ICEHouse. The Sabres mauled the Pioneers during the 3rd period outscoring them 9-22 and in turn swinging the contest. The ability to shut down and continue to hold off a dark horse title contender is what separates good teams from great ones. Assessing the form of the sides heading into this weekend, it appears that the Warriors will look to just survive this outing and look forward.

Hang Time Prediction: Sturt Sabres

MEN by Daniel Renfrey

The Sabres were solid against the Pioneers, but ultimately came away with yet another loss. Turnbull and Carleton did well to combine for 40 points in an offence that was somewhat productive but clamped down on by a strong defence. The Warriors were strong against the Lions over the weekend, although heavily reliant on Nathan, Meldrum, Stanbridge and De Wit. These were their four main scorers. They will need to give more support to these players down the line against strong teams but if they can provide the same amount of production against the Sabres this week they won’t lose. Woodville should be too strong and productive on both ends of the floor to lose this one, but you can never rule out an upset either.

Hang Time prediction: Woodville Warriors
