Rockbank Rams Football Sporting Club is excited to announce that it will submit a team into the AFL Goldfields Club 18 competition in season 2017.
"With our numbers at senior level continuing to swell, having a club 18s side will allow us the opportunity to ensure that our players will receive a game every week," Rockbank Rams FSC Football Operations General Manager Gavin Sporle says.
"This is an exciting development for our club and we're looking to ensure that our numbers continue to grow and our club continues to develop."
AFL Goldfields Regional General Manager Rod Ward is excited on the announcement by club on the back of low numbers in recent seasons.
"This is great news for the club," Mr Ward says.
"It was only recently that the club was struggling to field two senior sides in the Senior football competition, now it is able to field four; 3 Open Age and an Under 18 ½ side. This is a reflection of the hard work done by some outstanding volunteers at the Club, and shows how far the club has come in a short period of time."
The Club 18s competition started up this season and compromises of teams from Sunbury Lions, Sunbury Kangaroos, Diggers Rest and Bacchus Marsh.
It is a 16-players-a-side competition and allows clubs to retain players who may have otherwise retired, or stepped away from footy, while also helping clubs keep a strong membership and a healthy club culture.
Rockbank is looking for players that struggle to make training; and or can't play each week. It is also looking for a coach. For more details, please contact Gavin on 0481912604 or email footballoperations@rockbankfsc.com.au
