Samoa Take Fifth

Samoa had their best world level netball tournament yet with a hard fought 53 - 50 win over Malawi in the playoff for 5th and 6th place.

Malawi had surprised by finishing third in their Pool and were determined to get into the top five. Samoa were equally determined and hung on despite controlling the Game throughout for a tenacious win.

                        Q 1 Q 2 Q 3 Q 4
SAM - SAMOA 53 [16] [12] [17] [8]
MAW - MALAWI 50 [8] [15] [11] [16]

Samoa controlled the first quarter through the midfield and shot well to command the lead at 16 - 8 at quarter time. Samoa stayed in touch in the second and by three quarter time looked to have the game sewn up.

Malawi thought otherwise and produced a 16 - 8 Quarter to get within three of Samoa and make for an unnecessarily uncomfortable last few minutes for coach Lind Vagana.

Samoa can go home with a contented look pushing South Africa to 7th and their Pacific Rivals Fiji to 9th.
