Fiji Settle for Ninth Place

Fiji had a decisive 69-45 victory over Barbados to finish in ninth position.

In the battle for ninth position Fiji dominated the first half - their defensive combination of Matila Waganidrola and Mere Rabuka making it difficult for Barbados to penetrate the circle.

Effectively using tall shooter Taraima Rara, Fiji were consistent and accurate in the circle, taking a solid 17-10 goal lead into quarter time.

Despite Barbados having most of the play, poor passing, over-crowding in the attacking third and failure to convert, held them to just six goals in the second quarter.

Fiji's accurate passing and mid court play was too good for Barbados and they took a commanding 34-16 lead into the half time break.

While competitive in the second half, Barbados were never able to chase down the Fijian lead. Fiji comprehensively taking 9th position with the 24 goal win.
