Shearer, Mennenga and Perrott-Hunt in good form

In NCAA Division I play Emme Shearer made 4 from 9 threes in her 18 points as Portland (8-1) beat Pacific 81-67. In addition to passing 200 points for the season (averaging 10.3ppg) she also pulled down a career high 9 rebounds.

Emme has the third highest 3-point shooting percentage in the whole of the West Coast Conference – she has made 28 from 61 attempts at an impressive 45.9%.

And Happy Birthday for the 23rd Emme!

Also in good form are Men’s Division I players Kruz Perrott-Hunt and Sam Mennenga.

Kruz added 3 rebounds and a steal to a team high 22 points (8/14FG) as South Dakota (4-4) got the better of Omaha 84-68. Kruz is now just 4 points shy of 900 career points – to put in perspective what an achievement this is it should be noted only seven Kiwis have ever scored this many Division I points.

Sam has scored in double figures in all but one of his 19 games for Davidson College this season – and that was 9 points! His latest performance was 15 points and 13 rebounds in Davidson’s 68-61 loss at Dayton. Sam is now up to 704 career points.

Colorado State (2-6) lost by a single point (58-57) to Wyoming. James Moors had 6 points, 4 rebounds and a block in the defeat.

In NCAA Division II play Hannah Wentworth scored 14 points, making 4 from 9 threes, as Eckerd College eased past Palm Beach Atlantic 84-45. Eckerd are now 10-1 in Sunshine State Conference play. 

Tessa Talo-Tomokino produced 5 assists to go with 2 points and 3 rebounds as Northeastern State went down 63-51 to Missouri Southern.

In Junior College Parehuia Delamere top scored in the defeat Western Texas suffered at the hands of Midland losing 62-48. Parehuia finished with 12 points (5/7FG), 4 steals and a couple of assists.

Zaaliyah Kalahi-Fulu scored just 2 points but pulled down a massive 8 rebounds – 6 at the offensive end – as Grayson, on an eight game winning streak, defeated Weatherford 86-75.

Rashaan Smith scored 11 points and added 6 rebounds as Western Nebraska got the better of McCook winning 68-56.

Waiaaria Rogers scored 13 points and added 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals as Marshalltown fell 83-48 to North Iowa Area. 

In the professional ranks Akiene-Tera Reed posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds but couldn’t prevent Pyrinto being toppled 83-64 by ToPo in the Finnish League.

Yanni Wetzell scored 10 points as ALBA Berlin defeated Bonn 81-76 to remain top of the German League with a 13-1 record. 

Isaac Fotu has scored in double figures in each of his last four games for Tochigi Brex in the Japanese League. In the latest game he scored 17 points as Brex defeated FE Nagoya 74-59.
