Recognition for Dan Fotu plus other college news

Despite St Mary’s falling 61-55 to Wisconsin in the Maui Invitational Final Dan Fotu was named to the Tournament Team after averaging 16.3 points per game. The Tall Black forward scored at a mightily impressive 75% from the field (18/24), 5 from 6 three-pointers and 8 from 10 from the foul line.

Kruz Perrott-Hunt scored a team high 19 points (4/9 3PG) but couldn’t prevent South Dakota losing 83-70 to Nebraska. The former Harbour and Rosmini standout also came up with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, a block and a steal in 37 minutes. Kruz has scored in double figures in five out of six USD games this season averaging 15.2ppg.

In scoring 8 points Sam Waardenburg moved past 450 career points in Miami’s 69-63 victory against North Texas. 

Emme Shearer was only required for 10 minutes as Portland Pilots dominated Evergreen State 97-49nto improve to 5-1 this season. Emme still managed to come up with a career high equaling 5 steals to accompany 9 points and 3 assists.

In Division II play Reihana Maxwell-Topia had a career game as Saint Francis Fighting Saints, Illinois downed MidAmerican Nazarene 95-90 in overtime. Reihana was the hero scoring 8 of his career-best 14 points in the overtime period with a perfect 3 from 3 from the field including a long three.

Junior College:

Keeley Tini was a rebound shy of her fifth double-double of the season in Williston State Tetons narrow 69-65 loss to Laramie County. Keeley finished with 17 points (6/9FG, 2/3 3PG) and 9 rebounds.

Keeley already has 126 points and 81 rebounds to her name for the Tetons in the opening 8 games of the season.

Parehuia Delamere continues to impress with her stats stuffing performances for Western Texas. Despite the Westerners losing 86-65 to Weatherford the former Harbour guard posted 6 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists and a block. Jordyn Maddix had 3 points and 3 rebounds for Western Texas

Rashaan Smith pulled down a team high 6 rebounds to accompany 3 blocks and 2 points as #13 ranked Western Nebraska thumped Western Wyoming 98-52.
