Harbour teams perform well at Schick Nationals
Rangitoto College, Rosmini College and Westlake Boys High School had, between them, won eight out of the last ten Schick ‘AA’ Secondary Schools National Championships and although the trophy remained in Auckland it has travelled across the Harbour Bridge to St Kentigern College.
St Kentigern won their first ‘AA’ Schick Championship with a decisive 77-51 win against Rosmini, the defending champions.
In addition to Rosmini finishing runners-up the other Harbour boys teams were also well placed with Rangitoto College finishing fifth after a decisive 75-58 win against Napier Boys High on the final day and Westlake Boys High finishing seventh with a narrow 101-99 win against Tauranga Boys College.
St Peter’s School, Cambridge claimed their fourth ‘AA Girls title in five years with a 78-66 victory against Waikato neighbours Hamilton Girls High School.
Westlake Girls were the highest placed Harbour girls team finishing fourth after going down 70-64 to St Mary’s, Ponsonby in the bronze medal game.
Rangitoto College finished ninth after losing 93-74 to Napier Girls High while Carmel College, appearing at the Schick Nationals for just the second time, placed eleventh after beating Tauranga Girls College 84-48 in their final game.

Jazz Kailahi-Fulu – St Mary’s College, Ponsonby
Emme Shearer – Westlake Girls High School
There were also notable individual scoring performances by Harbour players.
Tayla Dalton (Carmel College) and Jazz Kailahi-Fulu occupied the top two spots on the ‘AA’ Girls scoring list. Tayla averaged 26.4 points per game to lead all scorers and Jazz was second with 23.8ppg.
Hannah Wentworth (14.8ppg) top scored for Rangitoto College and Emme Shearer (13.9ppg) was Westlake’s leading scorer.
Averaging 25.6 points per game Sam Mennenga (Westlake Boys) was fourth on the Boys ‘AA’ scoring list with Taine Murray (Rosmini College) 15thafter averaging 21.3ppg.
Zach Riley topped the Rangitoto College scoring notching 13.7 points per game.
Finally a special mention to Harbour staff member Andrew Horrocks who did an excellent job as part of the livestream commentary team.
