James Moors commits to Drake University

Harbour Basketball wishes to congratulate U19 representative James Moors on verbally committing to NCAA Division 1 college Drake University.

James will put pen to paper later this year before heading to Drake in mid 2018. Known as the Bulldogs, Drake are coached by Niko Medved and play in the Missouri Valley Conference.

James and mother Dionne returned from a trip to the States last week convinced that Drake is the perfect fit for the outstanding Westlake forward. They visited one other university and had the option to view a third but passed on the chance once it became clear that the opportunities at Drake were too good to bypass. Both were impressed with the facilities, academics, coaching staff and playing prospects.

This news is terrific for James and is a further boost to the Harbour Basketball programme.

We look forward to more news of players committing to scholarships in the States but for now we will reflect proudly that come the 2018-19 season we will have at least 8 Harbour players at NCAA Division 1 colleges.

James will join current Division 1 players Matt Freeman (Sophmore at Oklahoma), Isaac Letoa (Freshman at Dartmouth), Jack Salt (Junior at Virginia), Sam Waardenburg (Freshman at Miami), Tiarna Clarke (Freshman at Northern Colorado), Zara Jillings (Freshman at Fordham) and Tera Reed (Freshman at Virginia Commonwealth).

We will have a full run down of all Harbour players based in the States in an upcoming post. The college season begins late October-early November.
