Sideline Behaviour Code of Conduct

Side-line Behaviour 2016
We have on occasion seen a range of poor behaviours demonstrated by spectators over the past two years. Disappointingly this has occurred largely at the lower age level tournaments. In 2016 there will be strict enforcement of the BBNZ Internal Regulations.
C6 Code of conduct and fair play for parents and spectators
C6.1 Parents and Spectators should:
(a) Remember that although the basketball at the event may, or may not, be at an elite level, it is still sport and often junior sport, to be enjoyed by all participants;
(b) Respect all participating players and officials as you would respect your own children and friends, and applaud good performances by all participants;
(c) Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul or abusive language or actions, and by not harassing players, coaches, officials or other spectators; and
(d) Remember that destructive criticism has no place in basketball and especially in junior basketball. It is very hurtful to the recipient and, ultimately, reflects very poorly on the game.
A reminder that even as a spectator you are a representative of your Association.
All spectators are to be seated or stand a minimum of 5 metres away from court.
There will be zero tolerance for abusive/aggressive language or personal remarks directed at referees, coaches or players.
Any spectator not keeping to these regulations will be asked to leave the premises for the day. Failure to comply will see security and/or police involved and a trespass notice issued for the remainder of the tournament.
Should you require any further information on this, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
