2019 PRIMARY COMPETITION INFORMATION

All games will be played at Central Energy Trust Arena, in Arena 4 (B&M & Ballroom, College Street School, Carncot School Gym & Fly Palmy Arena)

MOUTH GUARDS ARE COMPULSORY IN PRIMARY COMPETITIONS

FEES:

  • Fees will be $725.00 Per team, this covers 14 weeks of basketball through term 2 and 3.
  • Schools that pay before Friday 10 May 2019 will receive a discount of $25.00 off per team, this discount will not be included in the invoice.

 

2019 PRIMARY COMPETITION RULES

The games video will not be reviewed regarding missed points

GAME RULES YEAR 3 & 4:

  • A size 5 ball will be used.
  • The 3-point rule will NOT apply.
  • No timeouts.
  • There is no 3, 5, 8, & 24 second called and no back over half calls.
  • Teams on defence MUST retire to halfway on a made basket and when a ball is inbounded from backcourt i.e. baseline and sideline.
  • Games begin with a jump ball, the possession arrow rule will apply on further possessions, when a jump ball occurs.
  • Fouls called will result in a player being substituted immediately.       If a team only has five players and a foul is called, then that team will be down to four players for one minute.
  • No screening to be implemented in this level.
  • Substitutions are to be made on the referee’s whistle, from sideline or baseline, not after a basket. No subs are to be made in the last two minutes of the 2nd half.
  • Bibs are to be on before teams take the court and can only be exchanged during a whistle call. Players are to guard the player with the same colour bib throughout the whole court. Players will be given two warnings about marking the same colour on the third warning the player will be substituted off.
  • In the event of a draw, in semifinals and finals ONLY, teams will play 2 minutes of extra time.
  • Scores on the flip charts are to be on the same side as the bench the team is sitting on.

  • A size six ball will be used for the Year 5&6 grade.
  • The 3-point rule will not apply.
  • No time outs.
  • The 3 second rule will be introduced however there will be no 5, 8, or 24 seconds called and no back over half.
  • Teams on defence are to retire to halfway after a basket is scored and when a ball is thrown in from back court, i.e. sideline or baseline.
  • Games begin with a jump ball, the possession arrow rule will apply on further possessions, when a jump ball occurs.
  • Substitutions are to be made on the referee’s whistle, from sideline or baseline, not after a basket. No subs are to be made in the last two minutes of the 2nd half.
  • Fouls called will result in a player being substituted immediately. If a team only has five players and a foul is called, then that team will be down to four players for 30 seconds.
  • Team fouls will be introduced, each half a team may have 7 team fouls on the 8th team foul and for every foul after that the offensive team gain 1 point.
  • No screening to be implemented in this level.

Players will be given two warnings about marking the same colour on the third warning the player will be substituted off.
