Kiwi 3 in finals

IT was hard luck for the Fijian outfits as New Zealand denied them spots in the Under 23 and Mixed finals.

Pulling in Josh Gubb and Paul Smith to feature for their Mixed team saw New Zealand take the upper hand from the start in the Mixed semi-finals.

The Mixed team won by 61-41 while the Under 23's only shot clear in the final quarter to win by 45-35.

The dark horses with Sakiusa Rokodi at Goal Shoot were denied possesion as their opponents had the new added dimension in the height department.

On the otherhand, the Kiwi Under 23's had to struggle after tailing Fiji well into the second spell.

But Fiji played with a lot of heart in both games.

U23 Captain Junior Tana said they underestimated their opponents but felt lucky about pulling it off in the end.

NZ U23 coach Kerry Quested said having to face Australia in the finals was a special occassion.

Earlier in the day the New Zealand Men's had beaten Australia to claim their spot in the finals.
