PARKSIDE showed their class against Tarneit on Saturday, defeating the Division 3 contender by 55-points at Henry Turner Reserve.
The Magpies were challenged in the first half, with only 12-points separating the two sides at the main break.
But the Titans couldn’t handle Parkside’s constant pressure, managing to score just seven points in the second half.
Jason Cloke was again at his damaging best, causing headaches for the Titans defenders. He finished with four goals next to his name. Matthew Chen and Chris Muratore were also among Parkside’s best.
For Tarneit, Todd Lawrie and Josh Foster were the only goal scorers.
The Titans will need to find some more avenues to goal if they are a chance to match with Parkside during the finals.
They will again be tested this week, when they host the second placed Wyndham Suns.
The Suns scored a win over North Sunshine at the weekend, the final score was 11.5. (71) to 7.8. (50).
Wyndham’s first quarter was the difference, with the Suns opening up a 23-point lead at the first break.
Dean Cachia and Steve Neralic both kicked two goals each, with Cachia named best on ground.
Zakaria Farah was the leading goal kicker for North Sunshine, he also kicked two goals.
The Roadrunners have now slipped into fifth place on the ladder.
Sunshine Heights scored a big 63-point win over Braybrook. The win sees them overtake North Sunshine on the ladder and are currently in fourth position.
The Dragons only led by three-points at half-time, but came out firing in the second half, kicking 13 goals to four.
Robbie Greto wound back the clock, he kicked five goals. Nicholas Mallia also kicked four goals.
For Braybrook, Bradley Busuttil bagged four goals.
In the final match of the round Sanctuary Lakes scored its second win of the season, defeating Laverton by 12-points at Laverton Park.
Michael Szulc kicked three goals for the Sharks. Brad Edwards was named best on ground.
In the Reserves, Parkside suffered its first loss of the season, losing to Tarneit by three points.
The Magpies came home strongly in the final term, kicking four goals to one, but it wasn’t enough.
Tarneit’s Ben Arabit was prolific. Jamie Cowlishaw also performed well.
Sanctuary Lakes scored its fifth win of the season after defeating Laverton by 14-points. Tristan Pearce led all goal scorers, he bagged five goals.
Sunshine Heights had a strong win over Braybrook. The Dragons won 20.14. (134) to 7.7. (49).
Shadi Qunqar kicked seven goals in the win.
Finally, the Wyndham Suns recorded their ninth win of the season after defeating North Sunshine by 130-points.
