THE Werribee Districts have pulled off an amazing come from behind victory over ladder leaders Yarraville after trailing all game to win with a kick after the siren by one point.
Yarraville had much of the play in the first quarter keeping Werribee scoreless but weren't able to capitalise leading only by 16-points at the first break.
Both sides maintained possession during the early stages of the second quarter, but the intensity rose as each team wouldn't take a step back.
Jack Mason for Yarraville kicked his second putting the Eagles up by 23-points but Werribee got on the board shortly after with a long bomb from Hamish Murphy to see them trail 1.2 (8) to 3.7 (25) at half-time.
Midway through the third quarter Yarraville extended the margin to as much as 39 points having 17 scoring shots to three, but Werribee were able to snare three late goals to keep them within striking distance.
During the term Werribee's Alex Psarros and Blake Taylor unfortunately had to be stretchered off leaving them with no bench for the final quarter.
The last quarter was played with great composure and pressure as Werribee became more direct with their forward entries and Yarraville slowed the game down.
Twenty points down with nine minutes left on the clock,with Werribee kicking two quick goals, which made for a tense final few minutes.
It came down to the last kick of the day as Adam Harkins marked a chaos ball 25 metres from goal. Harkins kicked truly to complete an outstanding comeback filled with character to spark celebrations for the Werribee Districts.
In other results Lachlan Fox finished with 11 goals for Altona routing Wyndhamvale, 39.17 (251) to 1.1. (7), Thomas Duxson too had a day out with 13 goals as the Wyndham Suns defeated Albanvale by 207 points.
Hoppers Crossing secured an important victory over Spotswood 7.10 (52) to 7.8 (50) despite trailing at every interval.
Caroline Springs bounced back with an 11 goal last quarter blitz to defeat Albion 15.8 (98) to 8.8 (56).
Lastly St Albans recorded their first win of the season with a 13-point win over Newport, 9.7 61 to 7.6 48.
