In a top-four battle that did not disappoint, the Werribee Districts were able to withstand a furious fourth-quarter rally to down Altona 11.7. (73) to 10.9. (69).
The game started strongly, as seven goals were kicked in the first term combined, Altona taking a three-point lead into the first break.
Both sides booted just two goals in the second as the Vikings lead was trimmed to just a single point.
The half-time break worked wonders for the Districts who kicked five goals to one, as the side overtook the visitors and led by 22-points heading into the final term.
With the game set up for a great last quarter, both sides did not disappoint as another five goals were kicked.
Despite winning the quarter four majors to one, Altona were unable to overcome the Districts who ran out four-point victors.
The Districts will travel to Wyndhamvale in Round 11 in search of its eighth win of the season while Altona has the bye.
Albion has jumped into sixth place on the ladder after its 47-point win over Wyndhamvale.
Neither side started as well as they would have liked, as just six goals were kicked between the two in the first-half.
The Cats came out firing in the second half, registering seven goals to two to win 11.16. (82) to 4.11. (35).
Despite the loss, the Falcons play has continued to improve in the last few rounds as they aren’t suffering 100-plus point losses each week.
Meanwhile, Albion has a date with Sunshine in Round 11.
The Kangaroos will enter its clash with the Cats on a high after defeating Deer Park 12.10. (82) to 5.5. (35).
The Lions jumped out to an early lead, as it held an eight-point advantage after the first quarter.
Deer Park did little else, kicking just one more goal and three behinds over the remaining three quarters.
Sunshine’s eight goals in the second-half separated the two sides as the Kangaroos cruised to a 47-point victory.
The Lions will next battle with Hoppers Crossing, as they search for its sixth win of the season.
The Warriors will head into that match full of confidence after absolutely dominating St. Albans, running out 105-point winners in their clash at the weekend.
Hoppers had 11 individual goal kickers, Joshua Doyle and Mohammed Hadara both booting the same amount of majors as the entire St. Albans side.
The 18.16. (124) to 3.1. (19) win sees Hoppers stay on top of the ladder.
St. Albans will next face Spotswood.
