NORTH Footscray have defeated Caroline Springs this past week, in a nail-biter at Hansen Reserve.
The Devil’s dominated the first quarter with Caroline Springs slow to get off the blocks, which by going on the result was a costly mistake for the visitors.
Caroline Springs were able to get within three points of North Footscray, as the Lakers took charge in the second quarter, but couldn’t bridge the gap for the rest of the match, eventually losing by just five points.
Paul Wentworth and Rob Sfriy were able to put up a fight and were named among the best for Caroline Springs.
But it was Devils stars Matthew Bellingham and Alexander Ford who impressed most.
North Footscray player Joel Richardson and Laker Blake Richards both kicked two goals each for their teams, which puts them both well ahead of the other goal kickers in the competition, taking out the first and second position in the leading goal kickers tally.
Richardson is in the lead by a goal.
After two rounds, North Footscray are now the only team to have won both their matches, putting them on top of the ladder.
Down at Howqua Reserve, there was no one to be seen as West Footscray forfeited to Manor Lakes, as the Roosters did not have the numbers.
Yarraville Seddon have enjoyed a home ground win against Glen Orden as the Eagles defeated the Hawks, 15.5 (95) to 4.4 (28).
Shane Williams kicked five goals for the Eagles whilst Michael Volpi kicked four.
This week will see Glen Orden make their way to Caroline Springs, where the Lakers are favourites to win, but the Hawks are keen to prove everyone wrong.
North Footscray will be looking to take on Albanvale at the Cobras’ home ground, which is set to be an interesting game, as the two have yet to go up against each other.
Yarraville Seddon will be heading down to Howqua Reserve, where they will be playing Manor Lakes, who have played two games so far and lost both.
