THE WRFL wishes sincere condolences to the Borlase family after the passing of Jack Borlase.
He was born on January 9, 1921 and passed on March 26, 2016.
He was awarded Life Membership of the league in 1980.
Jack’s son Barry said his father led a terrific life.
He said the Borlase family is a proud North Footscray Football Club name, with generations of the Borlase family having an involvement with the club.
“Jack’s father was first involved back in the 1930s, so our involvement goes back a long way,” Barry said.
“Jack was a junior coach and an A-reserve coach, he also held almost every club position, he was the general manager, president and he was also the delegate for the FDFL for a number of years.”
Barry said one of his father’s proudest moments was when the club claimed three premierships in 1978, 1980 and 1983.
“He was instrumental in bringing Ron Brown to the club who coached the club to three premierships,” he said.
Four years ago, North Footscray named a pavilion at their ground the ‘Borlase Pavilion’ in honour of Jack.
Jack’s grandson Shaun Borlase is currently in his third year as senior coach with North Footscray.
Jack’s funeral service will be held at the Nelson Bros Funeral Home - 81 Kororoit Creek Rd, Williamstown VIC 3016 – on April 5 at 10am.
The league administration and the wider WRFL community’s thoughts are with the Borlase family.
