WEST FOOTSCRAY will begin its pre-season tonight under the guidance of new coach Nick Diker.
Diker, a former Glen Orden premiership coach, takes over from David Orchard who led the club to another grand final appearance this year.
Diker is hopeful the club can take the next step and win a flag under his helm after the Roosters have failed to get over the line in the last game of the year for two consecutive years.
West Footscray lost to Wyndhamvale in the Division Two senior grand final by 49-points.
Over the past month, the Roosters have taken steps to bridge the gap, signing a number of new players, as well as several of their stars re-committing to the club.
Two-time premiership player with Glen Orden, John Zangari has been announced as a new recruit.
Sanctuary Lakes duo William Dinan and Danny Hutcheson has committed to the club. Dinan was named in the Sharks’ best on 10 occasions this season.
WRFL Division Two leading goal kicker Munir El Houli has re-signed with club for 2016.
His brother Khaled El Houli is also a new addition to the club. He comes to West Footscray from Division One club Sunshine.
Andrew Pickles from Glen Orden has committed to the Roosters as has Aaron Diker.
Hayden Bray, Scott Lobb and Travis Browne have all committed to the club.
Runner-up in West Footscray’s club best and fairest award Steve McAnulty has also decided to play on in 2016.
