The Klaibedechakl Camp for boys and girls of all ages and up kicked off on Monday, June 15th at the Palau National Gym for 1 week from 9:00am – 300pm daily. The 5 day Camp continued till Friday, June 19th. There were approximately 20 kids involved in the Camp. The coaches included John Tarkong Jr. and Floriain Temengil for wrestling. Assisting in the camp were our athletes Cristian Etpison Nicolescu & Skarley Renguul. The camp really helped our kids sharpen their understanding of our sport and improve on their level of wrestling skills. The Klaibedechakl Camp was first started in 2018 prior to the Belau Youth Games. We try to introduce and expose as many kids to our sport. No matter what the age anyone can benefit from the camp. We’ll basically open it up to anyone who is interested. Through this camp, Kids who participate in the camp can expect more than just running drills and learning new skills, they will have fun and do a bunch of games, grill it out and have as much fun as well as learning the sport. On the last day of the camp, the kids were split into two teams, the Papaya vs. the Sharks, and actually wrestled off in matches. Team Papaya won this competition. Afterwards, the athletes received their Certification of Participation for taking part in the Camp. We look forward to doing another camp soon, possibly during the holiday school breaks or by the end of the year.
