Solomon Islands Basketball Federation Elect New Board

SIBF President William Lai

HONIARA (Solomon Islands) - The Solomon Islands Basketball Federation (SIBF) have elected their Executive Board for the next two-year cycle.

After a successful period by the previous Board, concluding with the 2023 Pacific Games, the SIBF are now eager to capitalize on the momentum generated from the Games, to propel basketball to new heights across the country.

“Basketball is well positioned across the Solomon Islands to make a difference in our communities on and off the court,” incoming President William Lai said. “The newly elected Board are committed to developing sustainable basketball programs and pathways for our people to access no matter who, or where they reside."

President Lai commented on the success of the previous board, and how their leadership leading into, during, and post Pacific Games has held the Federation in good shape with partners and sponsors.

“We have wonderful people contributing to basketball, and our board will reflect that as we appoint two general members in due course,” President Lai said. “With the support of our ongoing sponsors, and partners, we this year look forward to collaborating with the Australian Government through the TeamUp Program, and FIBA, which will significantly contribute to the growth and development of basketball across the Islands.”
