PHS Black Widow wins ISL Girls varsity hoopfest
Team Palau High School Black Widow showed might as they got past Mindszenty High School (MHS) Lady Cardinals, 48-39 to win the 2012 Inter-School League (ISL) Girls varsity basketball league, Friday at the Palau National gym.
Trailing 4-7 early in the game, PHS Black Widow went on an 11-12 run in the second canto to trim the lead at 15-19. After the half time break, PHS Black Widow relied on their defense to climb back into the game and grabbed the lead at 34-26 and from there they never looked back as they went for the win.
Tint led the scoring chores for PHS Black Widow finishing the game with 21 points while Yuma and Chevenne topscored for MHS Lady Cardinals with identical 8 markers, respectively.
In the consolation match, Lydia Lukagfinav poured 15 baskets as she led the Bethania High School (BHS) Stellars over PHS Wolf Spiders, 59-46.
Specially crafted trophies were given to the winners immediately after the championship game which is supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
