Western Union, Jaguars meet foes in action on Sunday
Tournament darkhorse Western Union and J-Trading Jaguars both eye a formality to the playoff round when they take on separate foes Sunday in the ongoing elimination round of the 2009 Filipino Basketball League (FBL) at the Palau National gym.
After their 82-81 thriller over powerhouse team Rangers, Western Union is not letting its guard down when it meets the dangerous PIA Slashers in the main game at 3:30 p.m.
Taking solo second in the team standings with a 12-3 win-loss record, Western Union will once again rely on the services of Bong Alambra, Jun Bautista, veteran Nelson Baysa, Ruben Tecson and Jun Clemenia.
On the other hand, the Slashers (10-5) will be missing the services of Mike Olarte but will be complemented by the likes of Eric Espartero, George Concepcion, John Eric Basco, Erwin Senadre, Jojo Marino, Arley Alba, Cyrel Montel and Jerry Maquiling.
Meanwhile, after their devastating loss to the Palau Nationals, J-Trading Jaguars are hoping to rebound when they battle the Ilocandia Bulls at 2 p.m.
The Jaguars, who absorbed a 99-58 beating from the Nationals last weekend, will have to regroup and get their act together as they will again parade the team of Phillip Maniago, Jun Lanzuela, Ernie Bautista, Jerome Ratunil, Morris Apresto, Hener Aguinaldo, Jun Ponting, Ricky Erese with Norvert Nova, Rodel Ramos, Jason Tabuyo and Jun de Lina as supporting cast.
The Bulls, on the other hand, are seeking to redeem themselves after a heart breaking 107-91 loss to Hanpa Cardinals. They will be bannered by the team of Joeger Supnet, Dennis Castro, Jun Villena, Cesar Quisora, and Ryan Patentis.
In other games, Hanpa Cardinals will try to continue its winning magic when they face PRA Choppers in the opener at 11 a.m. while team Rangers will take on the Palau Nationals at 12:30 p.m.
