Team Maris Stella School Junior Sea Star needed just three games enough to dispose of a tough Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Jr. Kings to win the 2014 Elementary After School Competition (EASC) co-ed division at the Palau National gym.

The MSS Jr. Sea Stars closed the series with a 2-1 card after taking Game One with a 56-41 tally. The MSS Jr. Sea Stars lost Game Two via 24-30 but was able to bounce back and take Game Three with a total domination at 49-29.

After taking an 8-2 in the opening tip off, the Jr. Sea Stars gained control of the game outscoring the Jr. Kings with a 15-10 output in the second to close the half with a 23-12 advantage.

From there, it was all MSS Jr. Sea Stars as they led all the way to get the win and the championship crown.

Karl Lekar topscored for the Jr. Sea Stars with 14 as teammate Kedul A. chipped in 13 while Jerome led the scoring clutches for the Jr. Kings with 10 on the losing end.

On the other hand, Melekeok Elementary School took the 2014 Elementary After School Competition (EASC) Babeldaob category in the game played at the Palau National gym.

Melekeok Elementary School bested Ngaraard Elementary School, 30-29 to take the championship crown while Aimeliik Elementary School settled for third place honors.

Winners received especially crafted trophies immediately after the championship games. The event is under the supervision of the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF).  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
