PHS A wins Jr. ISL bball

Showing their strength Palau High School team A Spiders beat a tough Palau Mission Academy (PMA) Warriors, 73-71 in over time to win the coveted crown in the 2013 Inter School League (ISL) Junior basketball tournament played at the Palau National gym.

After the game was tied at 65-all in the fourth quarter, the game went to an extension period where both teams exchange basket and ties once again at 71-all with just seconds left in the game. Kib of PHS A Spiders took matters into his own hands as he sank a crucial shot that gave them the win and the championship crown.

Kib finished the game with 12 points supporting the 20 point performance of Derrick while Cody Rorer topscored for the PMA Warriors with 20 on the losing side.

PHS A Spiders entered the championship after winning over PHS B Tarantula, 20-0 while PMA Warriors beat EHS Squires, 75-52 to take the last championship slot.

In the consolation game, EHS Squires beat PHS B Tarantula, 62-55.

Winners were awarded immediately after the championship game. The tournament was under the supervision of the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
