FIBA Development Manager visits Palau

In order to follow up on the development programs done by the Palau Basketball Federation, FIBA Oceania’s Development Manager Annie La Fleur visits Palau.

La Fleur, in an interview, said that she is on island to follow up on the developments after two members of the PBF namely Ziske Asanuma and Ivan Rudimch finished the recent concluded National Basketball Development Officers (NBDO) workshop held in Australia last April.

“There were 9 participants in that workshop and two came from Palau. I am here simple to oversee their improvements and see what they have done since the workshop they had attended,” La Fleur explained.

In that workshop, some of the things taught to the participants include how to present a beginners coaching course, referees course, score table course, application for funding, how to make proposal to companies for sponsorships, how to organize a school 3-on-3 event and participants were also brought to Australia’s Intensive Training Program, where they observe how the elite players are being trained for a competition.

La Fleur added that she will be in Palau until Friday and will be conducting theoretical and practical drills for a beginners coaching workshop for school coaches and will be assisting Asanuma in a beginners coaching workshop on Wednesday night from 6 to 9 p.m.
